LOS ANGELES, CA – This March, Cinevolve Studios invites viewers to discover the dark underbelly Down Under, with the gritty, edgy Australian thriller THE LINE. Set against the backdrop of Melbourne, the feature film debut of award-winning director Michael Adante is an uncompromising and brutal journey into a volatile world of police corruption, where the line between law enforcer and criminal knows few boundaries. Certain to thrill fans of crime dramas and police procedurals – among the most popular of all entertainment genres – THE LINE, following several triumphant film festival premieres, will make its explosive U.S. home entertainment debut on both DVD ($22.95SRP) and Blu-Ray ($29.95SRP).
When a member of an Asian crime syndicate is brutally murdered, two hard-yakka (that’s Aussie for hard-working) undercover cops, recently promoted detective James Jewel (David Barry) -- young, inexperienced and idealistic -- and world-weary, rogue cop Mike Calis (Andy McPhee, Wolf Creek, TV’s “McCleod’s Daughters”), are assigned to solve the crime and prevent gang warfare. Against the clock and amid a world of criminal kingpins and their own growing disillusionment, the officers must unravel the truth behind the slaying -- even as the line between cop and criminal is blurred. And, as they plunge deeply into the seedy underbelly of Victoria, a complex web of deceit is uncovered that may be the undoing of them all.
Moody and atmospheric, this powerful import is bolstered by a strong script from helmer Adante, as well as meaty performances from the two experienced. And, once home audiences cross over it, they’ll not soon forget THE LINE.
